About

Led by acclaimed Persian-Australian tar player and composer, Hamed Sadeghi, the ARIA nominated ensemble draws on contemporary and classical music traditions of both east and west. Eishan’s repertoire consists predominantly of Sadeghi’s original compositions with diverse improvisatory idioms featured powerfully. Variously described as Persian Chamber Jazz and Middle Eastern Jazz fusion, Eishan defies neat labels.

Eishan Ensemble is comprised of an ever evolving line up of world class musicians with the core members being Hamed Sadeghi, Michael Avgenicos on saxophone, Adem Yilmaz on percussion, Pedram Layegh on guitar and Maximillian Alduca on double bass. The ensemble is joined by guest musicians to take on new projects. The vocalist Sonya Holowell, the accordionist Marcello Maio and the oud player Adnan Barake have recently recorded and toured with the ensemble.
